size matters

my how our little girl has grown.  when family and friends see her, they exclaim about how big she's getting and how she's filling in.  you can imagine my surprise when they weighed her at the doctor's office.

at her 2 month appointment she was 8 lbs 12 oz and in the 7th percentile.  so when my dad said she was getting so big this morning, i told him what she had been at her 2 month appointment and asked him to guess where she was now.  he guessed 38th, 24th, 18th... and i kept saying, "lower."

i wasn't expecting her to be off the charts fat or anything, but i thought just maybe she'd weigh more than 12 lbs.  no chance.  she was 11 lbs 6 oz.  8th percentile.  at least she grew one percentile, right?  her cousin had his 2 month appointment yesterday and weighed in at over 14 lbs.

i met Jeff's boss yesterday.  "how old is she?" he asked.  "6 weeks?"  my heart sighed.  "she's 4 months." i told him.  "but she's the size of a 6 week old," i added, if only to validate his estimate.

at least she has the redeeming quality of being longer than 59% of the baby world.  tall and skinny.  just like her father.  and ridiculously adorable.

she rolls like crazy, from tummy to back and from back to tummy.  she's the most giggly, smiley little girl and she loves to be with her mom or dad.  she's warming up to grandma and grandpa and is winning them over with her toothless grins.  she thinks its so fun to talk loudly [yell], which she probably gets from my side of the family.

we love our little sweet e.

build our parents' homes in the south of france

Owning your own home is and isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I mean, who would've thought I'd have to get dressed to make little e a bottle at 3 in the morning?!!  Our neighbor's balcony looks into our kitchen window and you just never know.  They spend an uncanny amount of time on their balcony.  Uncanny.

When I call for Jeffree, he can't always hear me.  He could be miles away, and how am I even supposed to know where to begin looking?  What if I need him to get me a tissue?  Now I know why people have intercom systems.  "Jeffree.  Paging Jeffree.  Jeff, you are needed in the family room.  Repeat: please report to the family room.  Also, please bring a tissue.  And some chocolate."

Every day I notice more things that need to be done.  And I can't just call the manager.  You mean I have to go without hot water until we fix it ourselves?  Get out!  I had to shower at my parent's house today.  Who knows when I'll be able to shower again.

Owning a home does have it's perks, though.

This morning, I put my makeup on while looking into a mirror bigger than my pinkie toe.  Uberamazing.

My dad works one block away.  Even an old woman like myself needs a lunch date with dad.  Especially my dad.

I can stand inside my closet.  (Exclamation point!)  That's right, my closet is even bigger than my mirror.

What more can a girl want?

if happy little blue birds fly

This is the best thing that's happened to me since I kissed Jeffree this morning.  But besides that, it's definitely the best thing since little e was born.  I'm serious - that's how super excited I am about this.

One of my best friends has a spectacular voice.  She was in my ward in Rexburg and when she sang the musical number in church, people totally were ready to vote for her on American Idol.  She is just that good.  Her voice is so sweet and pure and beautiful and real... she is amazing.

And now,

she is recording a CD.

I know, right?  The best thing since, like, I don't know, the King James Bible?!!

For now, listen to her at  http://www.PureVolume.com/ElyseNicole

And if you love it (which I know you will), then take the time to make a profile and become a fan.

enchanted to meet you

Today little e is missing her Daddy.  She is Daddy's little sweetheart and shows Jeffree quite a bit more affection than she shows to me.  It's Jeff's first day of school and I know when he comes home little e will be so excited to see him.

She tried to let him know he was missing out by rolling over this morning for the first time.  Unfortunately, she thought rolling over from her back to her tummy while Mommy was out of the room for 20 seconds was the opportune moment.  Little stinker.  I suppose she'll roll again and hopefully we'll both be there to enjoy it.

She is no doubt head over heels for her Daddy.  And he is hopelessly mesmerized by his little girl.  I love them both so much!

every child's prayer

She's just so cute.  These were taken last week on her 3 month birthday.  My sister says she just wants to squeeze little e every time she sees her.  I think that's a pretty common reaction to little e's sweet face.

Enough said.
